Project spotlight - External Repaint - Weatherboard and brick
Built in 1952, this double-story brick and weatherboard home needed some attention to preserve the substrates and improve it’s street appeal.
With the original lead-based paint in poor condition, the heavy layers were gently sanded back using the diamond blade Festool sander grinder to create a sound surface for painting. The M Class Extraction vacuum captured the dust, which was taken offsite and disposed of safely. The site was cleaned up each day to ensure the safety of the home-owner, neighbours and passers-by. The asbestos surfaces were not disturbed. There were rotted sections of timber in the window sills and weatherboards so these were extensively clean out and filled for painting. Repairing these surfaces rather than replacing them was a lower cost solution for the client.
The project has been entered into the Master Painters Association Queensland Excellence awards.
